At least with Phoenix I got a human and in last week's case I got a correct answer. The problem seems similar to last week. I can ping the gateway but no DNS. I hadn't even heard about the acquisition until I called the phone number and heard Megapath instead of Phoenix. As of right now... I am not very happy. |

This is BS this isn't the service I signed up for. They can't guarantee everything will be problem free after 7:00PM weekdays and Saturdays or Sundays. Also most of us work during their new business hours are we all expected to take the day off to stay on hold to resolve DSL problems??? I am really FURIOUS with the balls of this CO. to screw all their subscribers. Don't we have any input on contractual services??? Frostbite to Anon Member 2000-Oct-29 1:22 pm I agree that loss of 24x7 support is silly for an "always-on" connection. Residential users will use the service when they are not working; consequently, they will only notice problems when they are using the service. If my home is any indication, the link is being used late into the night by some family members. It's not unreasonable to see me awake and actively online at 11PM, either. | Al -NJ to Anon Anon 2000-Oct-29 3:15 pm Well, it seems like I got hit by the same problems you are having. It seems to be two problems, Phoenix's DNS are really slow so use someone else's( such as their upstream providers,dbn.net). Also the network is really slow. The pings to my gateway are 60 to 80 ms long. That's not really good, though it seems to be clearing up now. I guess we know how Megapath/Phoenix is going to deal with the residential customers. Give them the worst service so they end up leaving on their own. What a nice way to treat their customers. Al |

Telredor Member 2000-Oct-29 10:46 pm This is really pathetic. I'm calling tech support first thing tomorrow morning. I'm getting like 300 down on my 784/784 line. Although I'm getting 725 up... I'm not getting any packet loss or slow pings, which is a good thing. My download speed wouldn't piss me off so much if I only used my line as a server, but I'm not (not like it's reliable enough to use as a server). It's good (in a way) to see that I'm not the only one having problems like this. I hope MegaPath doesn't screw us all over.. They're at least obligated to give us service for the length of the contract. However, what happens when it runs out? Oh, and I'm in Fair Lawn, NJ. Bergenfield is pretty close to my town, I guess we're doing ok here, at least for now. |

This is not the type of service I contracted for. |

Basically the service has done 2 things. 1. changed enough that no one should really have trouble getting out of the contract and 2. been down enough lately that it shouldn't be a problem. I have seen that IBS out of washington has a good price but their prices are going up 11/1. there are others. I got some interesting leads going to northpointcom.com and following the DSL path there to find out who offered their service. GOOD LUCK to you |

Tech support is only reachable by email and they keep asking me for trace routes. I asked them how can I give trace routes when I can't get anywhere because I can't get through the gateway. Still waiting for a response on that one. Just thought I'd let you know it is not only in NJ. Hopefully all will be well SOON (although I doubt it) Mark |
